Take the time to train your mind.

A healthy mind is your most powerful asset you can have in the world. It helps you enjoy life, cope with problems and offers a feeling of well-being and inner strength. Whatever we are going through, dealing with constant changing emotions, it is our mind that controls us. This is just how we function, no googling or any material things can do this for us. We need to train our mind to be fit for life tests. We may have our supporting system to go to, such as friends, family, professionals etc… but during the 24hrs in our days, there is time when YOU are alone in your mind. Your mind can talk to you in all kind of ways and it wants to control you and pull you in different pockets. If you cannot control your mind and your mind controls you, this is where problems arise. Our brain has the ability to learn and grow as we age (a process called brain plasticity) but for it to do so, we have to train it on a regular basis. "Eventually, your cognitive skills will wane and thinking and memory will be more challenging, so you need to build up your reserve," says Dr. John N. Morris, director of social and health policy research at the Harvard-affiliated Institute for Aging Research. "Embracing a new activity that also forces you to think and learn and requires ongoing practice can be one of the best ways to keep the brain healthy." It has to start with the body. The mind is the weakest part to start with. Start with the body by doing simple baby steps. Don't overcomplicate things and find excuses to justify your apathy; if you’ll be doing so I am here to tell you that you will find many… Prep your mind by creating a structured plan. Seek professional help for this to structured according to your personal needs, lifestyle and goals. This will help you devote your time and attention to only one additional task, following your own plan that makes sense to yourself. We have to always challenge our brain in order for it to grow. This is why choosing to focus on your health and fitness journey is so beneficial. It engages your brain to learn and offers the chance to improve. Practice is also an important ket to maximising brain training. Practice makes permanent. The more time you devote to engaging your brain, the more it benefits. Our wellbeing journey requires constant practice. The goal is not to strive for vast improvements, it is the constant repetition of working to improve, and not the quest for mastery; that can have the greatest impact. In the end there is no one for all forever solution. We are constant evolving beings. No one really finds himself without going through trials, challenges, sufferings, accountability difficulties etc, however, with a healthy mind we can cope and overcome also such times. Accountability, for example, is one thing that could be a serious issue in our life. Being accountable every day for doing right for yourself, for the people next to you and your responsibilities is hard. Even the smallest details like waking up early every morning or tucking kids to bed… Being option less challenges that are faced everyday, we have unconsciously trained our mind to overcome and cope through them much easier through practice. This is exactly what happens also when you focus on your wellbeing journey. Don't focus on the amount of time you practice at first, but rather aim for consistency. Devote what time you can, but be firm with your commitment. Schedule it and do it. Being aware is the first step to start training your mind… Mariano
